Have you made your business profile in Google My Business? If you haven’t or not even sure what it’s for, we have a short and helpful guide for you today. Continue reading to learn how Google My Business can help your private practice.

What Is Google My Business?

Google My Business (GMB) is a tool that allows businesses to have control over their Business Profiles. This gives business owners the ability to manage and optimize their profiles as needed.

So first, what is a Business Profile anyway? Simply put, a Google Business Profile is the same as a business listing. However, when you have a GMB Business account, your Business Profile automatically appears in Google Maps as well as local search results, and that’s fantastic!

For those who are not familiar with these digital tools, worry not. GMB is simple to use and you can make a GMB Account for free. Do note, though, that you can make a Business Profile without registering for a GMB account. However, you will lose the ability to use the features of GMB that enables you to manage your profile. This also means that you can’t collect the information Google has gathered under your profile like reviews.

When registering for a profile, Google will ask for your business name, location, and category. It will then search the database to make sure there are no duplicate entries. Once confirmed, Google will make your Business Profile.

Why Register for a GMB Account?

The better question to ask is, why not? GMB is designed and made to be simple enough for non-tech-savvy business owners to still be able to create optimized business listings online.

Your Business Profile doesn’t just put your business on Google Maps; it also helps increase your visibility in search results. When someone types “therapist near me” or “therapist in my area,” Google will immediately pull up your Business Profile and show that to the user. And all you did was create that profile.

Further, a Business Profile allows you to connect with clients. Clients can leave reviews, which can also bolster your reputation. Prospective clients can also ask questions in your profile and you can answer those questions there, too. Adding photos is also helpful, too.

Tips to Use GMB for Your Practice

  • Add Photos – Google users love photos. It helps give potential clients a sense of your therapy space as well as an expectation of what your office looks like. Sometimes, photos speak louder than words and this can apply to your business, too. If you’re willing to spend, you can also add a Google Virtual Tour of your space.
  • Gather Reviews – Who doesn’t check reviews nowadays? Having great reviews in your Business Profile can help attract potential clients and referrals. Perhaps, you can ask your trusted colleagues to give some honest reviews to get the ball rolling.
  • Complete Information – Google users appreciate companies that provide detailed information about the business. Make sure to add business hours, complete address, contact numbers, website, service areas, and a quick description of your practice. The more demographic information you provide, the easier it is for potential clients to find you.
  • Google Insights – One of the best perks of having a GMB account is that Google collects insights that you can use for your business. Information like the users who are searching for you as well as their online activity is at your fingertips. Additionally, these insights are also integrated with Google Ads, which helps you target the right audience.

It’s time to get with the times and do your best to give your business a fighting chance in becoming known in your locale. Using Google My Business is simple, and the benefits you get from using are worth it. Give it a try as soon as you can!
